Vetiver has been known as the “oil of tranquility” in India and Sri Lanka. It is known for its uplifting, soothing, healing and calming properties. Its aroma is earthy, exotic, sweet and a bit musty. It has been used for relaxation, to calm and soothe anxiety, chase away anger and irritation, and reduce both stress and tension. It is grounding and will help you with insomnia. It helps soothe aches and pains from arthritis and rheumatism. It can help heal cuts, improve skin tone, and reduce wrinkles. It promotes deep concentration helping with focus and mental sharpness. A recent study showed vetiver was effective in treating children with ADD and ADHD due to its relaxing and calming properties.
Blends well with bergamot, grapefruit, geranium, jasmine, lavender, rose, and ylang-ylang.
ADD/ADHD: Diffuse during the day to promote relaxation. Can add lavender oil also. Can be applied to the chest or wrists.
Antiaging/Skin detox: Diffuse or apply it topically.
Anxiety/Depression/Nervousness: Diffuse. Place 3-4 drops on a cotton ball and inhale or inhale directly from the bottle. Add 10 drops to a warm bath before bed.
Concentration/Focus: Diffuse 2-4 drops of each vetiver and rosemary.
Joint issues: Apply 1-2 drops directly to the affected area.
