Rosemary

ROSEMARY
rosmarinus officinalis

Historically, Rosemary has been used as a tea to calm nerves and strengthen the mind and memory.  Rosemary was used as a symbol of remembrance on occasions such as weddings and funerals.  Many brides used rosemary in their wedding decorations.  It has a strong, wild but sweet scent.  It has been used to help relieve digestive issues as well as joint and muscle aches and pains.  It has been found to strengthen the respiratory system, work as an astringent to tone and tightens your the skin, and help circulation by balancing both high and low blood pressure.  It also aids in detoxifying the body and as an antibacterial, it is good for acne, eczema and athlete’s foot.

Blends well with basil, bergamot, clary sage, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, black pepper, peppermint and tea tree.

Uses:

Athlete’s foot:   Create a foot soak by using a mixture of 3 teaspoons olive oil,5 drops each rosemary and tea tree oil, and a bowl of warm water.

Detox:  Mix 5-6 drops to 1 teaspoon coconut oil and apply to abdomen.

Joint and Muscle aches/pain:  Mix 4 drops of rosemary, 4 drops of peppermint and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil.  Use this on sore muscles and joints. 

Skin issues:  Mix 3 drops of rosemary oil with 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc).

Safety:

If you are pregnant, nursing, being treated for other health issues or taking medications, be sure to consult your healthcare provider. Do not use if you have been diagnosed with epilepsy or have high blood pressure.  It may be stimulating if used at night.
