Bergamot has a sweet floral aroma with a hint of lemon.  Earl Grey tea gets it unique flavor from Bergamot.  It is used for relief of anxiety, depression and insomnia as well as respiratory issues such as bronchitis, coughs and colds.  Acne, psoriasis and eczema can be treated with Bergamot. It can help with digestion and abdominal cramping due to its antispasmodic properties.

Blends well with lavender, ylang-ylang, neroli and patchouli.

Uses:

Anxiety and stress:  Diffuse or mix a drop or 2 with equal drops of carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc.)

Lymphatic drainage:  Combine 2-3 drops with a carrier oil for massage or apply to bottom of your feet before bed.

Skin issues:  Mix 2-3 drops with 1 tablespoon of carrier oil (coconut oil, almond oil, etc.)

Carminative
Encourages lymphatic drainage

Safety:

Avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds for 12 hours after application as Bergamot is extremely phototoxic. Do not use directly on the skin. Dilute with a carrier oil.  If you have diabetes, it may affect your blood sugar so be sure to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly.  If you are pregnant, nursing, being treated for other health issues or taking medications, be sure to consult your healthcare provider.
