Basil, Sweet

Sweet basil is used in both cooking and medicine. This sweet, warm, spicy and herbaceous aroma is used, not only to favor many recipes but to treat a variety of infections and wounds. It contains anti-bacterial properties, helps reduce inflammation and is used to treat respiratory issues by helping to break down mucus and phlegm. It has also been found to help combat depression, be emotionally uplifting, great for brain stimulation, reduce mental fatigue and help clear the mind.

Blends well with citrus oils, black pepper, frankincense, lavender, marjoram, rosemary and roman chamomile.

Uses:

Headaches:  Mix 2 drops each of sweet basil and lavender.

Sore muscles:  Add sweet basil, lavender and marjoram to a warm bath.

Mood-boosting
Reduce insomnia

Safety:

Dilution is recommended for topical use. Use with a carrier oil.
Do not use if a history of epilepsy.  If you are pregnant, nursing, being treated for other health issues or taking medications, be sure to consult your healthcare provider.
